Welcome to Word for Word 

Word for Word is an open Writers Group which meets every Wednesday afternoon between 1-3pm during term time at the Hornsey Library in Haringey Park, Crouch End, London N8. Sessions are varied, some are led by specialist tutors, others from within the group.

The main aim is to get some writing done: we are not a Literature Discussion Group. A typical session involves a brief introduction, followed by a suggestion or inspiration or idea from the tutor/leader and everyone starts writing. There is usually an opportunity to read your work out if you want to, but it’s not obligatory.

The first session is free, after that the price ranges from £4 to £6 per session.

The Word for Word Poetry Workshops are on Tuesday afternoons 1-3pm at the same venue, and on Thursday mornings 10.30 - 12.30 at Alexandra Park Library, Alexandra Park Road, N22. These workshops, for beginning and improving poets are organised and run by published poet and qualified tutor Laurence Scott. Join any time. The Novelists' Group meet in the library fortnightly to read and comment on one another’s work, more details on their own page.
